The classroom was very busy this week as we worked to further our knowledge of place values (ones, tens, hundreds and thousands) in 2, 3 and 4 digit numbers.  We used objects to represent the numbers and recorded our work in pictuires and equations.  This work will continue next to secure our understanding.

Exciting stories have been started based on the book A Piece of Cake by Jill Murphy.  Many children have made interesting story plans suggesting different ways that an imaginary family of animals could lead a healthier lifestyle.  These stories will be continued next week. I am looking forward to finding out what happens as the families in the stories make lifestyle changes and seeing the descriptive language the authors will use.

As autumn arrives we now move on from our Animals topic to complete some work based on Autumn and Harvest.  We have started working on our colour mixing skills which will help us in future work painting seasonal fruits, vegetables and objects in nature.  For this we are starting a collection in the classroom of signs of autumn such as conkers, pine cone and acrons.  If you spot any that have fallen as you take a walk please do bring them in to add to our collection.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

Mrs Egan
